About The Meditation People
I have been practising Vedic Meditation for most of my life. Here's why I teach it, and what you can expect from learning with me.

How I came to Vedic Meditation
I came to Vedic Meditation in my mid-twenties, out of curiosity more than crisis.
At the time I was working with a young, dynamic real estate agency in Sydney, a small but ambitious team that was doing extraordinarily well. What struck me wasn't just their success. It was how they carried it. Calm under pressure. Clear-headed in high-stakes situations. Energised rather than depleted by the demands of the job.
When I found out that most of them were practising Vedic Meditation, I wanted to know more. That agency was the first office of McGrath Real Estate, which has since grown to become one of Australia's largest and most recognised real estate groups. The people I was watching were already exceptional. Vedic Meditation was part of how they stayed that way.
I learned the technique and haven't stopped since. That was nearly four decades ago.
What practising Vedic Meditation for most of your life actually does
I'm often asked what the practice has done for me. The honest answer is that I can't fully separate who I am from the practice, it's been part of my life for so long.
What I can say is this: I'm amazed that people cope without it.
Not because life without Vedic Meditation is impossible. Clearly it isn't. But because of what the practice does to your relationship with difficulty. The small frustrations that used to linger. The pressure that used to compound. The mental noise that used to follow you to bed.
After nearly four decades of regular practice, I hardly suffer. Not because life has become easier, it hasn't always, but because the technique keeps clearing the accumulation before it builds into something heavier. That's what a lifetime of practice delivers. Not peak experiences. Not mystical states. Just a steady, quiet resilience that becomes your normal.
That's what I teach people to access. And it doesn't take four decades to start noticing it.
Training, credentials and the tradition behind the teaching
I was trained to teach Vedic Meditation by Thom Knoles, one of the world's foremost authorities on Vedic philosophy and practice. Thom himself was trained by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and has been a techer himself now for almost 60 years. I teach as Thom was trained to teach, the same technique, the same depth of instruction, the same commitment to the practice working for each individual student.
I am endorsed by the Shankaracharya Tradition in India to teach this program worldwide. The Shankaracharya Tradition is one of the oldest and most respected custodians of Vedic knowledge on the planet, a lineage that has safeguarded this body of wisdom for thousands of years. That endorsement isn't a marketing credential. It's a signal that the teaching comes from an unbroken, authoritative source,a dn that I've earned the right to represent it.
I also produce Thom Knoles' Vedic Worldview podcast, which means I am in constant, deep engagement with the Vedic knowledge, not just as a practitioner, but as someone who lives and works inside it every day.
How I teach, and why I teach this way
I've worked for myself since I was 19. I've spent 25 years as a business consultant and mentor, working with people who operate under real pressure and need tools that actually work in the real world.
That shapes how I teach.
My approach to Vedic Meditation is direct, practical, and completely free of jargon. I'm not interested in mysticism or in making meditation sound more exotic than it needs to be. The technique is already remarkable enough on its own terms. My job is to teach it clearly, make sure it works for you, and support you well beyond the course itself.
I work particularly well with people who are sceptical. People who need something to make sense before they'll commit to it. People who've been burned by wellness promises before and are approaching this with their guard up. That's fine. Bring your questions. I'd rather you leave the info session unconvinced but clear than convinced by something that wasn't the full picture.
No pressure. No script. Just an honest conversation about whether this is right for you.
What The Meditation People is
The Meditation People is how I've structured my teaching practice. It's not a franchise, a studio, or an organisation. It's me, teaching the same technique I've practised for most of my life, to people who are ready to learn it properly.
Courses run in Brisbane, on the Gold Coast, and by arrangement in Byron Bay and the Northern Rivers, or other cities around Australia or New Zealand. Private tuition is available anywhere in the world. For existing meditators, there are pathways into group sessions, advanced techniques, knowledge courses and retreats.
Everything is personal. There are no large group seminars, no impersonal programs, no one-size-fits-all approach. You learn from someone who has been practicing this technique for nearly four decades and cares whether it works for you.
Ready to find out if this is right for you?
The best first step is a free info session, a genuine conversation about Vedic Meditation, what the course involves, and whether it fits where you are right now.
No obligation. No pressure. Just clarity.
